I’ve been working for Monocle for the best part of a year now and they recently made me their São Paulo correspondent.

One of the first things they asked me to do in my new (unfortunately unpaid) role, was to update a high-end guide to my new city.

I can’t pretend I go often to many of the restaurants listed here. I can’t afford to. But I’ve tried to throw in a few more down-to-earth places (such as street markets and museums) and sought to list places I think are classy rather than snooty.

My personal favourite? La Frontera, a beautiful restaurant in Consolação that is as good for lunch as it is for dinner and as fun with friends as it is impressive on a hot date.

So, here it is, a go to guide for businessmen and big spending visitors to South America’s biggest and most dynamic city.
